Timothy Rickter Schmitt

August 11, 1961  –  May 13, 2026

Timothy Rickter Schmitt, 64, passed away at his home in St. Johns, Arizona, on May 13, 2026. Born on August 11, 1961, in Evansville, Indiana, Timothy lived a life defined by his deep devotion to his family, his steadfast character, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him.

Timothy spent his childhood and early years in Evansville, Indiana. Later, he graduated from Bonita Vista high School in Bonita, California.  He eventually made his home in Arizona, where he built a life rich with meaning alongside those he cherished.

For 32 years, Timothy was blessed to share his life with his wife, Jennifer Schmitt. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, partnership, and enduring love — a bond that remained the cornerstone of his life until his final days.

He is survived by:

His devoted wife, Jennifer Schmitt of St. Johns, Arizona;

His father, Charles Joseph Schmitt of Evansville, Indiana;

Three sisters: Teletha Elossais (Moses) of Edmonton, Alberta Canada; Tammy Schamuhn of Edmonton, Alberta  Canada; and Taffy Loveless (Kurt) of Knab, Utah;

Two sons: Joshua Ellis and Matt Ellis, both of Mesa, Arizona;

Three grandchildren: Madison Ellis, Gavin Ellis, and Brennan Ellis, all of Mesa, Arizona.

Tim was also survived by his uncle Fred, Aunt Carolyn and many nieces and nephews,  great nieces and nephews as well as cousins that were all very dear to him.

Timothy’s gentle spirit, wonderful sense of humor, steadfast presence, and love for his family will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be felt across generations.

A memorial service and celebration of Tim’s life will be held on July 11th, 2026 at the Living Word Bible Church located at 3520 East Brown Road, Mesa, Arizona 85213.

Service will held from 11:00 to 1:00.  Light refreshments will be offered.
